Welcome! I'm Laurie
(a real person, not AI).
I help overwhelmed or inexperienced home cooks build confidence and follow-through in the kitchen. Through supportive online sessions with real-time cooking guidance, I teach adults how to build cooking confidence and simplify feeding yourself and your loved ones.
Let me help you cook with three ingredients that you won't find in a recipe: curiosity, comfort, and confidence. I can break down the cooking and meal planning process, adapt it to your needs, and help your learn to love the process.

Realistic Recipe Suggestions
We're not going for gourmet here...and you've already saved the Pinterest and Instagram recipes to feed someone for a century. Now it's time to pick some, and I can help with that.

Convenient Support
Skip the week night cooking class. CookBuddy is one-on-one and you pick from available meeting times that suit your schedule. Each session is personalized and questions are encouraged.
Common Questions
How does virtual support work in real time?
We connect via video call while you’re in your kitchen. I’ll guide you step-by-step, watch your technique, and offer instant adjustments to ensure your meal turns out perfectly and your confidence grows.
How do scheduling and time zones work?
Booking is easy through my online calendar, which automatically converts to your local time zone.
What happens during our session?
We start with a friendly chat about your cooking goals for the session and a quick kitchen tour. Then, we will spend the rest of the session getting to work on simple, confidence-boosting tasks or recipe. See descriptions of each session here.
What do I need to have ready before my session ?
For all sessions, you will need to complete the CookBuddy pre-session questionnaire so I know more about you, your set up, and your goals before we meet. You will need a computer or phone with video set up with Zoom, which you will access with a unique link. Your cooking area should be visible from your camera view.
For Cook Together sessions, have your ingredients gathered prior to the session. We'll use the equipment and tools you already have in your home - no fancy gadgets required. We will work with what you have (within reasonable safety, of course). If you'd like personalized suggestions for building out a practical kitchen, I can help with that, too.
What are the pricing and commitment?
Each session is booked individually, and you can book as many as you'd like. I'm here to support you for as long as you need.
What about dietary restrictions?
No problem! I'm familiar with allergies, intolerances, and special diets of all kinds. I'm personally most experienced in vegan and vegetarian cooking, but I've helped people cook gluten-free, dairy-free, heart healthy, low-FODMAP, and more. I cannot give prescriptive dietary advice during our sessions, but if that's what you're interested, check out my dietitian profile.
Can you help me eat healthier or lose weight?
Generally, yes! Healthier is a broad term that can mean different things depending on where you're starting from. However, if your goal is to make significant dietary changes or "diet overhaul", this may not be the best service for you at this time. You may consider seeing a dietitian for medical nutrition therapy instead. If that's what you're interested, check out my dietitian profile.
